Old Contemptibles Great War Site

 Last updated Sunday 15 January2012

This is an appeal for information on Midlands men who served in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers. This is for a comprehensive new book that is currently being written. We are appealing for photographs, family stories and anecdotes, but most importantly any information on the soldiers service with the regiment. It doesn't have to be a relative you may have information in archives or other personal sources. We are also looking for photographs of the Commonwealth war graves of these soldiers where applicable. The main thing is we want to detail as many men as possible before the book is published. If you can help please respond in the first instance to enquiries@oldcontemptibles.com Alternativley please post your comments below.

Remembering, Researching and Educating

Welcome to Old Contemptibles Great War pages.

My aim is:-  To keep alive the memory of the Great War through remembrance, research and education

Remembrance- I have a serious and sincere interest in the period 1914-1919. First and utmost is my desire to perpetuate the proud memory of those soldiers, of both sides, who lost their lives fighting for their country.

Research-  I am happy to help you  find out about your own relatives service in the Great War. From finding out which cemetery they are buried in or which memorial they are commemorated on.

Education- I am currently studying for an MA in British First World War Studies. I am available for school talks on any aspect of the Great War, in line with the national curriculum and tailored to what you are teaching.  I can display the equipment of the First World War British ‘Tommy’, to help bring another dimension to the subject and help keep your students interested
